Freedman Tackles Privacy, Data Security

Adjunct Professor and BOD member Linn Foster Freedman has joined Robinson+Cole as a partner. She will chair its Privacy and Data Security Team.

Adjunct Professor Linn Foster FreedmanPROVIDENCE, March 18, 2015: Linn Foster Freedman, a Roger Williams University School of Law Adjunct Professor and Board of Directors member, has joined the law firm of Robinson+Cole as a partner in its Business Litigation Group. She will also chair the firm’s Privacy and Data Security Team. Freedman joins Robinson+Cole from Nixon Peabody LLP, where she the Privacy and Data Protection Group and HIPAA Compliance Team.

Freedman focuses her practice on compliance with all state and federal privacy and security laws and regulations, as well as emergency data breach response and mitigation. She also authors the blog Data Privacy and Security Insider, offering insights into the tightly controlled and constantly changing industry.

“We are extremely excited to have Linn join our firm and expand our Privacy and Data Security Team,” said Bradford S. Babbitt, chair of Robinson+Cole’s Business Litigation Group. “Her broad privacy experience will be a nice complement to the work that our firm is already handling for our clients.”

Freedman works with companies and organizations to adopt a risk management approach to precisely frame the purpose and means for collecting, maintaining, and transferring high-risk data throughout their organization. She currently serves as general counsel to the Rhode Island Quality Institute.

She is an adjunct professor at RWU Law, where she teaches privacy law. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Roger Williams University, Roger Williams University School of Law, and the Rhode Island Business Group on Health. Additionally, she is president of the Foundation for Rhode Island Day Schools. She earned her J.D. from Loyola University School of Law and her B.A., with honors, from the Newcomb College of Tulane University. She is admitted to practice law in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Louisiana.
